I have nothing but the greatest admiration for the way in which
Islamic Relief responds to these dreadful disasters”

Prince Charles

HRH the Prince of Wales has commended Islamic Relief for its work in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in the wake of the Asia earthquake.

At a gathering of the families of victims organised by Islamic Relief and hosted by the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre in West London, Prince Charles said: "I have nothing but the greatest admiration for the way in which Islamic Relief responds to these dreadful disasters.

"We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Islamic Relief and other organisations like them".

In his briefing with Islamic Relief staff, Prince Charles was particularly concerned about supplies reaching the victims and the fast approaching winter. He said that he would try to help the logistical effort through the organisations he knows.

When meeting the families, he was touched by their stories of losing their loved ones and he shared their grief. He reiterated that Islamic Relief was working relentlessly to reach the victims. He also stated that he wished he could do a lot more to help them and prayed that God would see the Muslim community through these testing times.

The High Commissioner for Pakistan, Dr Maliha Lodhi, expressed her deep gratitude to Islamic Relief for their immediate response and exceptional work in the disaster zone.

Founder and President of Islamic Relief, Dr Hany El Banna, said that he was deeply moved Prince Charles's visit.

In Pakistan itself, Islamic Relief UK Manager, Waseem Yaqub, spent the day unloading supplies flown in by DFID. He left Islamabad for Bagh at 22.00 BST with a cargo of blankets and medical supplies.
