Our Mission

Islamic Relief strives to alleviate suffering, hunger, illiteracy and diseases worldwide regardless of color, race gender or creed, and to provide aid in a compassionate and dignified manner.

Islamic Relief aims to provide rapid relief in the event of human and natural disasters and to establish local development projects to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and disease.

History

Established in 1984 in Birmingham UK where its headquarters are located, Islamic Relief is Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) for emergency relief and sustainable development dedicated to helping the world’s poorest population.

The first Muslim humanitarian organization established in Europe, it was created by two medical students from Birmingham University following devastating famine in sub-Saharan Africa.

 

In 1988, its capacity grew to become a functional team. In 1993, Islamic Relief obtained a consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

In 1992-1993, many offices were established in Europe: Albania, Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, as well as in the United States. Islamic Relief is active in some forty countries in many humanitarian aid fields.

IR Malaysia is a Malaysian NGO, it’s a part of Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide (“IR”) established in 1984 with its operational headquarters in Birmingham, United Kingdom. IR is a non-governmental and non-political humanitarian aid organization.

Islamic Relief responds to disasters and emergencies, as well as promoting sustainable economic and social development projects by working with local communities.

We work in four main sectors; Emergency Relief, Development (Education, Health, WATSAN, Shelter and Livelihood), Orphans and Waqf (Endowment)
