FIRE RELIEF BY ISLAMIC RELIEF MALAYSIA ___________________________________________________________________
Kuala Kedah, 24 Disember 2008- Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) provides relief to the victims of fire at Kampung Balai, Lorong Masjid, Kuala Kedah. ’Fire Relief’ is one of emergency relief implemented by Islamic Relief Malaysia intended to lessen the burden of the fire tragedy victims.
6 families benefited from this event when food packages were handed to each family. The food packages contain with basic daily food including rice, sugar, flour, salt, cooking oil and canned food. Hopefully the relief will help to release their burden for a few weeks.
Understanding the common need of families this season, Islamic Relief Malaysia also handed over school equipments to families as all their possesions including their childrens’ preparation for the next school term were all damaged and burned in the fire. The ’school relief’ includes school uniform, shoes, socks and sports attire where each students received 2 sets for each item. In addition to that, the students also received stationaries and school bag. A total of 13 students including 10 primary school students and 3 secondary school students received their school relief on that memorable day.
According to the spokeperson of Islamic Relief Malaysia, Mr. Farouq Zauji, Islamic Relief Malaysia understand the need of the unfortunates and will do the best as an effort to lessen their burden. Hopefully the food packages will provide relief for the families for a few weeks and their children can start the new school term with an open heart, mind and a joyful spirit. The relief to unfortunates were made based on the personal and corporate donation. On the behalf of the beneficiaries, Islamic Relief Malaysia would like to thank the donor for their concern and generosity.
Other than the current relief, Islamic Relief also organized other humanity and charity programs including food packages handover during Ramadhan and Syawal, qurbani meat distribution for the unfortunates, humanity development and emergency relief.
