Program Anggota Palsu Islamic Relief Malaysia di Gaza
Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) mengucapkan setinggi-tinggi terima kasih dan penghargaan kepada seluruh rakyat Malaysia yang telah menghulurkan sumbangan baik dari segi tenaga dan wang ringgit kepada tabung Dana Kemanusiaan Palestin (DAKAP).

| Penerima program ini juga terdiri daripada penerima peralatan perubatan bagi menangani masalah tulang kaki dan kelumpuhan untuk kanak-kanak yang berumur 3 tahun kebawah. Kes kecacatan sejak lahir bagi kanak-kanak di Gaza semakin meningkat akibat dari kekurangan rawatan awal dan malnutrisi. |
Hasil daripada keperihatinan masyarakat Malaysia, sebahagian daripada kutipan tersebut digunakan bagi membiayai Projek Anggota Palsu bagi rakyat Palestin yang kehilangan anggota di Gaza.
Projek ini telah dimulakan pada 15hb Mac 2009 melalui kerjasama bersama Artificial Limbs and Polio Center (ALPC) atau ‘Pusat Polio dan Anggota Palsu’ di Gaza. Pusat ini memiliki tenaga kerja yang berpengalaman termasuk juruteknik anggota palsu dan pakar physiotherapy bagi membantu perlaksanaan projek ini.
Di samping membekalkan anggota palsu, program ini juga menyediakan berbagai peralatan sokongan bagi kelumpuhan, peralatan sokongan plastik dan peralatan sokongan tulang belakang.
Program ini dijadualkan akan berlangsung selama setahun. Selama tempoh tersebut, seramai 1,000 penerima yang terdiri dari golongan dewasa dan kanak- kanak akan dapat dibantu.
Bagi mengenalpasti senarai penerima pula, keutamaan diberikan kepada mereka yang kehilangan anggota akibat dari serangan dan keganasan baru-baru ini. Selain dari itu, penerima anggota palsu ini juga terdiri daripada mereka yang berada didalam senarai menuggu tetapi tidak mampu untuk menampung kos pembelian dan pemasangan anggota palsu ke badan mereka, kanak-kanak yang mengalami masalah sejak lahir dan mereka yang perlu untuk menukar anggota palsu akibat dari kerosakan atau perubahan fizikal.
Kejayaan program ini adalah hasil daripada sumbangan serta keperihatinan masyarakat Malaysia terhadap penderitaan mangsa krisis kemanusiaan di Gaza. Bagi pihak penerima sumbangan program ini, IRM mengucapkan setinggi-tinggi terima kasih di atas budi baik anda.
Selain daripada projek pembiayaan anggota palsu, kutipan dari tabung DAKAP juga digunakan untuk membiayai beberapa program kemanusiaan Islamic Relief yang lain di Gaza. IRM juga masih menerima sumbangan dari orang ramai yang perihatin, dimana kutipan tersebut adalah untuk membiyai program pemulihan dan pembangunan semula Gaza.

Recent activities include:
- Implementing the Debris and Rubble Removal project in three main cities in northern Gaza Strip, Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun and Jabalia. These areas sustained heavy destruction during the war on Gaza. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the local municipalities. Workers are being paid by Islamic Relief. Heavy duty lifting machines are powered with needed fuel and rental of this equipment is being covered by Islamic Relief
- Crisis Group Psychosocial Intervention project is on-going; targeting thousands of Palestinian children in schools who were affected by the recent war.
The Gaza Strip post-war is considered a disaster zone especially in most affected areas like the Jablia Camp and Atatra Area in northern Gaza Strip, Khuzaa area in the south and Zaytoun town in Gaza. Families, there, are in despair as hundreds of them had their homes totally destroyed and they do not have proper shelter in these winter conditions. Many essential sectors are still facing shortages.

Islamic Relief recent interventions:
* Distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets for 586 affected families in Rafah and the Southern Gaza Strip.
* Distributing similar aid for 256 affected families in the north of Gaza Strip.
* Crisis Group Psychosocial Intervention project activities targeting thousands of Palestinian children in schools who were affected by the recent war are still going on.

* Distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets for 452 affected families in Rafah and Southern Gaza Strip.
* Distributing similar aid for 850 affected families in Gaza City.
* Continuation of the Crisis Group Psychosocial Intervention project for children with more activities and sessions.

* Distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets for 564 affected families in Khan Younis City and Southern Gaza Strip.
* Distributing similar aid for 703 affected families in Gaza.
* Continuation of the Crisis Group Psychosocial Intervention. The project activities in schools target thousands of Palestinian children who were affected by the recent war on Gaza. Psychologists highlight disorders among many of the children. Activities such as storytelling, drawing, role playing and recreational activities are designed to help children deal with post-war trauma. Every group receives six sessions at the end of the project an open day is conducted for all children. There are also public meetings which look at social and psychological phenomena related to children.

* Distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets for 689 affected families in Khan Younis City and Southern Gaza Strip.
* Distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets for 726 affected families in Gaza City.
* Continuation of delivery of medical supplies (machines, disposables) for hospitals and private clinics which provide health services for people, especially marginalized ones. Almost all funding for the health sector is going to hospitals thus these clinics are overlooked. Few of them are fully equipped and they are doing a lot of work and serve a lot of patients.
* Completed the two rounds of milk distribution in primary schools; targeting private schools and governmental schools which include refugees and non-refugees, Christians and Muslims. Most of the schools target and provide education for poor children. 5000 schoolchildren from the first distribution round in private schools and 6580 from the second benefited from the fortified milk. This project is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and its health department.

* Distributing similar aid for 662 affected families in Gaza City.
* Starting the Crisis Group Psychosocial Intervention project for schoolchildren in 50 governmental schools in the Gaza Strip. The project is implemented in partnership with Al-Wedad Association for Rehabilitation in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

* Distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets in northern Gaza Strip (Jabalia Camp) for 425 affected families.
* Sessions of the Crisis Group Psychosocial Intervention project are still held in the devastated areas. This project targets 8,000 families who had their homes destroyed during the war. Many children require multiple sessions and will require longer-term follow-up. The project also provided children with toys.
* Delivering the last distribution of hearing aids for deaf children throughout the Gaza Strip. The project provides 100 hearing aids for deaf, many of them started to hear for the first time in their lives.
11 February 2009
* Launching the project "Demolition Waste Removal" in the Gaza Strip. The project works on removing demolition waste and rubble to a defined area in coordination with Gaza Municipality.
* Distributing 270 food parcels, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets in Gaza City for the affected families from the war.
* Delivering 30 oxygen cylinders (different sizes) to the MoH warehouses to be delivered to hospital later on as theneeds.

* Aid packs were distributed to over 1,000 families in various parts of Gaza. Each aid pack includes emergency food, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and blankets.
* Distributed medical disposals to various health clinics.
* Milk packs for school children were distributed to 6 different schools

* 350 food parcels were distributed in north of Gaza Strip particularly for people in Atatra who were severely affected by the bombardment.
* To date, 180 sessions of the psychosocial support project have been held by the supportive groups. Also, 180 psychosocial support sessions were conducted for desperate children in the most devastated areas.
* 1000 poverty-stricken Palestinian families received food parcels in Gaza in AL-Jala' Distribution point

* The psychosocial support project started with visits to affected families in the devastated areas in the Gaza Strip. The project will target 2000 families and 8000 children who live in these areas.
* The Family Sponsorship project started with the delivery of 1000 food parcels for 450 of the poorest families in the Gaza Strip. Each family received two parcels each
* Preparations for the distribution of medical equipments and drugs have been undertaken at the Ministry of Health warehouses.

* £2 Million worth of aid has been delivered since the conflict began, including medical equipment drugs and supplies, as well as emergency food packs, blankets and hygiene kits.
* Planned activities in the next phase include
o Providing essential food and non food items to approximately 5,000 families
o Providing psychological counselling to approximately 50,000 traumatised children
o Provision of materials to repair water treatment plants
o Providing temporary shelter and basic needs to approximately 500 families 
* Distributing food parcels, kitchen sets, hygiene kits and blankets for 250 families in Jabalia including the areas of Dardona, Dar Assalam and Abed Rabuh Farm. These areas witnessed heavy destruction few weeks ago

* Two trucks filled with medical supplies, mainly disposables, arrived from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip entering through Kerem Shalom crossing.

* Islamic Relief reached its initial fundraising target of $3 Million. However, due to the ongoing crisis and severe need of further funds, the Gaza Crisis Appeal has been raised to $10 Million.
* Four trucks of food aid has been delivered to the main Al Shifa hospital in Gaza. The food aid included flour, rice, beans, tinned meat and fish. blankets for the hospital
* $270,000 worth of medical equipment has been purchased in West Bank and will be delivered to Gaza through the World Health Organisation’s coordination

The World Health Organisation (WHO) have been given permission to access Gaza on behalf of aid agencies, therefore Islamic Relief will be able to transport aid into Gaza with the WHO. Today, 1000 additional blankets have been distributed to hospitals. Locally, food is available but to expensive for many to buy. We buy the food and distribute it in emergency food packs.
31 December 2008 Islamic Relief’s Emergency Response:
Islamic Relief has confirmed that the passage of relief items through the Egyptian border to Gaza has been approved. Some relief items have already entered into Gaza through this route.
Five trucks of medical supplies have been delivered to Gaza’s main Al Shifa hospital. The following medical tools have been delivered to the hospitals:
Laporatomy sponges, Gauzes, VICRYL, Hypodermic needles, Splint Kramers, Latex sterille surgical gloves, Endotracheal Tubes oral and Bandage plaster of paris with quantities and various sizes.
Islamic Relief hosted a coordination meeting with the World Health Organisation and all other NGO’s operating in Gaza to ensure effective response to the crisis.
Islamic Relief’s needs assessment team in coordination with the Gaza Ministry of Health have prepared the following list of the urgent medical tools and equipments needed.
* 1 mobile X-ray machine
* Maintenance of the existing 5 sterilization machines.
* 5 new central sterilization machines.
* 500 oxygen cylinders
* ICU beds, Fully equipped
* 5 Anastasia machines
* 100 sringe pump
* 100 Infusion pump
* 5 Operations tables with their lights for opening new operation rooms
* 10 Blood Gas machine with its converter
* 30 normal beds
* 5 Intensive Care ambulances
* Normal ambulances (where 40 % of existing are depreciated)
* More generators for the hospitals (KVA 200, KVA100, KVA 50, KVA 600)
* 5 Washing machines for clothes and other drying machines for Gaza Strip ICUs

Islamic Relief has launched an emergency appeal to raise £2 million to purchase urgent medical supplies and humanitarian aid to assist civilians in the beleaguered Gaza Strip.
Hundreds have been killed and injured following a massive bombardment of the Gaza Strip by Israeli fighter jets.
Aid workers report a scene of desperation in Gaza : “This is the worst situation I have ever seen in Gaza . I visited a hospital and there were bodies outside and people crying. Buildings are totally destroyed. It’s really horrific. We are working now to get aid to the hospitals” said Hatem Shurrab, Islamic Relief aid worker in
Gaza .
Islamic Relief is one of the largest aid agencies working on the ground in Gaza and has begun distributing emergency medical supplies and equipment, as the immediate needs include medical disposables and first aid kits.
